Flooring Contractor

Bible briefing · vendor shortlist coming

Flooring contractors install hardwood, tile, vinyl, polished concrete, and resilient floors — the surface that takes the daily abuse of every restaurant, bar, and hotel. Hire them for any new buildout or renovation; floor failure in service is one of the top sources of operator pain. Tile and stone install in NYC hospitality is governed by the TCNA Handbook for Ceramic, Glass and Stone Tile Installation (2026 edition is current) and ANSI A108; gauged porcelain panels have their own dedicated 2025-2026 TCNA Handbook with 1/4" notch trowel + back-buttering + suction-cup lift required.

Buyer's guide

How to spec NYC restaurant + bar flooring

Flooring is the most-walked-on line in any NYC buildout and the surface most-likely to date a venue 5-7 years in. The line splits across material families: hardwood / engineered wood, polished concrete, terrazzo (the NYC restaurant-revival 2018-present), porcelain tile, vinyl plank (LVT), and rubber/sheet flooring (BoH).

Brand short list. NYC flooring contractor: Coronet Flooring (NYC commercial) + National Flooring Solutions + Empire Today Commercial. Premium hardwood + terrazzo: Bona finish + Domotex Italian terrazzo + Custom NYC terrazzo installer. Polished concrete: NYC Concrete Polishing + Rapid Refinish. Porcelain + tile: Porcelanosa dealer + Daltile + Florida Tile. Vinyl plank (LVT): Mannington Commercial + Shaw Contract + Tarkett.

NYC-specific traps: terrazzo is the post-2018 NYC restaurant revival — destination-design venues spec terrazzo at $25-65/sq ft installed. Vinyl plank (LVT) is the operator-grade casual + fast-casual default at $4-12/sq ft. Polished concrete $8-18/sq ft for industrial / craft brewery / urban-feel concepts. Hardwood $12-35/sq ft + 4-yr re-finish cycle at restaurant volume.
